Chiefs Enter ‘Trap Week’

Chiefs Enter ‘Trap Week’

The Chiefs are running extremely thin at wide receiver but that’s not why Sunday’s game might be a tough one

The Chiefs are without wide receivers Rashee Rice and Tyquan Thornton for today’s game against the Chargers. The former in Rice is hopeful to return in a week or two while Tyquan Thornton is out for the season. To make up for this they have elevated recently signed Justin Watson, who has won a Super Bowl with KC in the past, and Andrew Armstrong from the practice squad.

Even with a lack of depth at the receiver position, no one is expecting the Chiefs to have much of any trouble with the 0-5 Chargers. Outside of their inability to get results this year, the Chargers also have given up the 12th most rush yards in the league while the Chiefs lead the league in yards per carry behind a, so far, historic season from Kenneth Walker III. On top of this the Chiefs are coming off a bye week and Andy Reid has a 22-5 record in such a scenario.

Everything is working in the Chiefs favor outside of receiving depth so the only thing working against them is expectation.

This is the definition of a trap game.
